AMOC INDEPENDENCE RALLY

As seen in issue 201 of 100% biker

Being Independence Day, it seemed only logical that we should celebrate with American bikes and with the American Motorcycle Owners Club holding their independence Rally it seemed rude not to join in. especially as they were holding a custom show as well.

For a club show the custom show had a good mix of bikes, from standard Jap road bikes, to a few radical customs and even a roadking with BBQ attachment who was happily burning sorry cooking huge slabs of meat, based on South American cooking styles “Harley-Dogs” still had 25kg of meat and 3 bags of charcoal top go. They were awarded an honourable mention in the prize giving as best (only) BBQ bike.

The show was judged by a couple of the traders and there was also a people’s choice award the latter went to Greaseys black and white sportster and he was totally shocked as it is unwashed daily ride, but still the classic lines shone through.

I do not have all the results but some of the winners were:

Best scooter: as well as being the only one, was a standout bike with its murals.

Best Rat went to the 750 trike

Best engineering and a prize of €100 Custom Chrome Vouchers went to Nicks rebuilt and refreshed Suzuki and you could have knocked him down with a feather its well earnt though

Best in show was the lovely little Bonnie also winning a €100 voucher and all got very neat trophies.

Unfortunately 2 wheeled Mikklos with his quirky green Harley and a few other class bikes just missed out on the judging as they arrived just a bit late, though would have made judging even harder.

It was nice to have a good look around Lurches modified Victory which I had spotted at a show in Kent the week before but had not had much time to look around. It was a vision in black.

As I hope you can see from the photographs it was a fine affair and I look forward to the next.
